Nicholas F. Lordo, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and dedicated public servant, passed away surrounded by those he loved on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his community, and the profession he served with honor, integrity, and pride.
Nicholas dedicated his life to law enforcement, serving with distinction as the Police Director for the Town of Guttenberg, New Jersey. In this role, he was known for his strong leadership, fairness, and steadfast dedication to public safety. He also served with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues through his professionalism, work ethic, and commitment to service.
Above all else, Nicholas was a family man. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kathleen, and a loving father to his sons and daughter. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He was a constant source of strength, guidance, and support, and he instilled values of integrity, responsibility, and compassion in all who knew him.
Nicholas is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his sons, Nicholas Lordo and his wife Christa, and Michael Lordo; his daughter, Kristine Barboza, and her husband, Michael; his grandchildren, Gavin, Matteo, and Noah Barboza; Cousins Joanne DiClemente, Michael Friedman, Robert Friedman, and Patricia Hunt, as well as his godson Andrew DiClemente, his nephew Christopher Oliveri, and his niece Christine Ferrara and husband Robert, his niece Alexis Ferrara, and his best friend Charles Daglian and, dear friends; and a law enforcement family that spans generations.
His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the community he faithfully served, and the family he cherished above all else.
Nicholas F. Lordo will be remembered always for his service, leadership, and deep devotion to his family.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Morning visitation will be on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, 8:00 – 9:00 am at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be offered in Wedneday, January 21, 2026, at 9:30 am, at St. Joseph’s of the Palisades R.C. Church in West New York, NJ.
Entombment to follow at Flower Hill Mausoleum in North Bergen, NJ.
