Maria Luisa Menendez, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and cherished educator, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Seashore Gardens in Galloway, New Jersey.

Born in Las Villas, Cuba, to her beloved parents, Eliserio Cruz and Maria Rios, Maria carried the warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit of her homeland with her throughout her life. She built a life rooted in faith, family, and service, touching countless hearts with her kindness and gentle wisdom.

Maria was the devoted wife of Eugene Menendez, her dear husband of many years, who preceded her in death in 2018. Together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Their enduring partnership was an example of commitment and devotion to all who knew them.

She was also reunited in eternal rest with her beloved son, Eugene Menendez.

She leaves behind her loving children: Vivian Chavez and her husband, Wilfredo, and Henry Menendez, who were the pride and joy of her life.

Maria was also a proud and adoring grandmother to Jesse, Daniel, Alyssa, and Nicole Menendez. Her grandchildren brought her immense happiness.

As a teacher, Maria dedicated her life to shaping young minds and nurturing the potential in every student she encountered. She believed deeply in the power of education and approached her work with patience, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, New Jersey.

In place of flowers, the family asks that you honor Maria’s memory by planting a flowering plant in the spring in remembrance of her mother, a tribute to the love of family and the beauty she cherished in life.

María Luisa Menéndez, esposa abnegada, madre y abuela amorosa, y educadora querida, falleció en paz el jueves 19 de febrero de 2026 en Seashore Gardens en Galloway, Nueva Jersey.

Nacida en Las Villas, Cuba, de sus amados padres, Eliserio Cruz y María Ríos, María llevó consigo durante toda su vida la calidez, la fortaleza y el espíritu vibrante de su tierra natal. Construyó una vida cimentada en la fe, la familia y el servicio, tocando innumerables corazones con su bondad y su dulce sabiduría.

María fue la esposa devota de Eugene Menéndez, su querido esposo de muchos años, quien partió antes que ella en 2018. Juntos crearon un hogar lleno de amor, risas y apoyo incondicional. Su unión duradera fue ejemplo de compromiso y entrega para todos los que los conocieron.

También se reunió en el descanso eterno con su amado hijo, Eugene Menéndez.

Le sobreviven sus hijos amorosos: Vivian Chavez y su esposo, Wilfredo, y Henry Menéndez, quienes fueron el orgullo y la alegría de su vida.

María fue además una abuela orgullosa y dedicada de Jesse, Daniel, Alyssa y Nicole Menéndez. Sus nietos le brindaron una inmensa felicidad.

Un servicio junto a la tumba se llevará a cabo el jueves 26 de febrero de 2026 a las 11:30 a.m. en el Cementerio Fairview en Fairview, Nueva Jersey.

En lugar de flores, la familia solicita que honren la memoria de María plantando una planta con flores en la primavera en recuerdo de su madre, como homenaje al amor por la familia y a la belleza que ella tanto valoró en
