Gerardo Rodriguez Obituary

Gerardo Rodriguez entered eternal rest on Friday, September 20th, 2024, at Palisades Medical Center, in North Bergen, NJ.

A resident of West New York, NJ, he was born in Matanzas, Cuba to his parents Eusebia Acosta and Jacinto Rodriguez.

In Cuba, he proudly served in the Cuban military up until the Cuban Revolution, where he had become a political prisoner of the regime.

Gerardo was forced to leave the country he called home or remain in jail. In 1962, he fled to seek refuge and start a new life in West New York, NJ.  He came to love his new home and the United States of America, for allowing him to raise his family in the land of the Free and the home of the Brave.  He would have proudly served in the United States Armed Forces given the opportunity.

Gerardo is survived by his loving wife Ofelia Rodriguez and their children Yosilda Suarez, her husband Omar, Richard Rodriguez, and his wife Patricia.

He will be remembered by his cherished grandchildren Justin Suarez and his wife Leslie.

Gerardo leaves behind his dear brother Gilberto Rodriguez.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, from 2:00pm ~ 6:00pm at the funeral home.

Morning visitation will be on Monday, September 23rd, 2024, from 9:00am ~ 10:00am at the funeral home.

Entombment to follow at Flower Hill Mausoleum in North Bergen, NJ.
