Con profunda tristeza y gran amor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Efigenia Gómez, quien partió en paz en su residencia el 25 de mayo de 2026.

Efigenia nació en Fomento, Las Villas, Cuba, hija de sus queridos padres, Isidoro Gómez y Caridad Vázquez. Más adelante estableció su hogar en West New York, Nueva Jersey, donde construyó una vida centrada en la familia, la bondad, la fortaleza y la devoción hacia sus seres queridos.

Fue la amada esposa de Héctor Montano, quien la precedió en la muerte en el año 2018. Juntos compartieron muchos años de amor, compañerismo y recuerdos inolvidables.

Efigenia dedicó gran parte de su vida profesional al servicio de los demás. Trabajó con orgullo como Banquera Privada Internacional de Citibank durante 30 años, donde fue respetada por su profesionalismo, compasión y compromiso con sus clientes. Después de su carrera bancaria, continuó sirviendo a la comunidad trabajando en la Alcaldía de West New York durante aproximadamente 10 años, hasta su jubilación.

Efigenia dejó con amor a sus hermanos, Ino Gomez y su esposa Leslie, y Celia Calunga y su esposo Carlos Sr. También fue precedida en la muerte por su hermana, Agustina Pérez-Medrano, y su cuñado  Pedro Pérez-Medrano.

Deja atrás a sus queridos sobrinos y sobrinas: Vivian Calunga, Carlos Calunga Jr. y su esposa Sandra Rivera, Pedro Javier Pérez Medrano y su esposa Cristina, y Daniel Gómez. También le sobreviven sus adoradas sobrinas nietas y sobrino nieto: Alexie Quiles, Lucia Perez Medrano, Liliana Perez Medrano y Julian Bermudez. Efigenia también deja muchos primos, amistades entrañables y seres queridos que la extrañarán profundamente.

La velación para familiares y amigos se llevará a cabo el jueves 28 de mayo de 2026, de 3:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m. en la funeraria.

La Misa Funeral tendrá lugar el viernes 29 de mayo de 2026, a las 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia St. Joseph of the Palisades R.C. Church en West New York, Nueva Jersey.

El sepelio continuará en el Mausoleo Flower Hill en North Bergen, Nueva Jersey.

 

 

With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Efigenia Gomez, who peacefully passed away at her residence on May 25, 2026.

Efigenia was born in Fomento, Las Villas, Cuba, to her beloved parents, Isidoro Gomez and Caridad Vasquez. She later made her home in West New York, New Jersey, where she built a life centered around family, kindness, strength, and devotion to those she loved.

She was the cherished wife of Hector Montano, who preceded her in death in 2018. Together, they shared many years of love, companionship, and treasured memories.

Efigenia dedicated much of her professional life to serving others. She proudly worked as a Citibank Private International Banker for 30 years, where she was respected for her professionalism, compassion, and commitment to her clients. Following her banking career, she continued serving the community by working at the West New York Town Hall for approximately 10 years before retiring.

Efigenia is lovingly survived by her siblings, Ino Gomez and his wife Leslie, and Celia Calunga and her husband Carlos Sr. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Agustina Perez-Medrano, and her brother-in-law, Pedro Perez-Medrano.

She leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews: Vivian Calunga, Carlos Calunga Jr. and his wife Sandra Rivera, Pedro Javier Perez Medrano and his wife Cristina, and Daniel Gomez. She is also survived by her cherished great-nieces and great-nephew: Alexie Quiles, Lucia Perez Medrano, Liliana Perez Medrano, and Julian Bermudez. Efigenia also leaves behind many loving cousins and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph of the Palisades R.C. Church in West New York, New Jersey.

Entombment will follow at Flower Hill Mausoleum in North Bergen, New Jersey.
