Alan Vera Garcia entered eternal rest on Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ.
A resident of Guttenberg, NJ, he was born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, to his parents Doria Isabel Garcia Nelson and Joaquin Vera Mora.
Alan had the ability to light up a room with his presence and smile. He was a fierce competitor, had a heart of gold, and was a friend who always put others before himself, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Coaching and Physical Education from the Manuel Fajardo University of Sciences of Physical Culture and Sport.
Alan Vera García, a wrestler from Santiago de Cuba and the first Cuban to win a national championship in the United States in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Alan is survived by his loving wife Elena Pirozhkov, and his cherished daughter Alina Vera (3 months)
He leaves behind his dear father, Joaquin, and his siblings, Joaquin Vera Urrutia, Eclis Salomon Correoso, Mileidi Vera Bell, Deyanira Vera Sanchez
Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, from 4:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Morning visitation will be on Friday, October 4th, 2024, from 9:00 am ~ 10:00 am at the funeral home.
Interment to follow on Friday, October 4th, 2024, at 11:00 am at Flower Hill Cemetery in North Bergen, NJ.
