Ada C. Bowens

Ada Cecilia Johnson-Bowens was born December 4th 1928, in Jamaica Queens, to Katherine Johnson. She had two brothers Richard and Marcus who preceded her in death.  Ada earned her wings on 8/09/2023.

Ada had four children, Leonard A. Johnson, Warren T. Johnson who preceded her in death; Debra L Stewart and Patience R. Bowens.  She was a mother to four but she was a mother, mentor and joy to many.  Her energetic spirit was infectious.

Ada spent the last 64 years as a devoted wife and partner to James W.  Bowens.

Although Ada resided in Queens most of her life, she found her second home in Longwood, Florida for 30+ years amongst a community of caring friends.

Ada had a special bond and closeness with her nieces (Candy, Cathy, and Kim) and enjoyed family get togethers  and simple visits.

You could not talk about Ada’s life without speaking on her strongest heartbeats, her grandchildren; Leonard A. Johnson III (Pookie); Kevin C. Murphy;  Warren M. Murphy. Her great grands;  Shanice A. Johnson;  Zaire A. Johnson; Karter L. Johnson. They gave her endless moments of happiness, pride, love and priceless memories.

Visitation for Family and friends will take place on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 from 10:30 am  --  12:30 pm

Interment to follow at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ
